Our automotive dealership in Novi is hiring an experienced Office Manager / Controller to lead dealership accounting and daily business office operations.
We are looking for a hands-on professional who can maintain accurate financial records, manage the monthly close, supervise office staff, and provide ownership with clear financial reporting. Prior automotive dealership accounting experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting and business office operations.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, deal posting, payroll coordination, and general ledger activity.
- Reconcile bank accounts, floorplan accounts, vehicle inventory, and balance sheet schedules.
- Review contracts in transit, funding delays, receivables, and outstanding balances.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and complete month-end and year-end closing.
- Oversee title and registration workflows.
- Maintain internal controls and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Supervise and train office staff, assign responsibilities, and maintain accountability.
- Coordinate with ownership, outside accountants, lenders, and vendors.
- Monitor cash flow and expenses.
Qualifications
- Previous automotive dealership experience as an Office Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller.
- Strong knowledge of dealership accounting, financial statements, floorplan reconciliation, and month-end closing.
- Experience managing accounting staff and business office operations.
- Experience with Tekion DMS preferred.
- Familiarity with CVR and dealership title and registration workflows preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- Accounting education preferred; substantial dealership accounting experience will also be considered.
