Maintenance Planner
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading mining operation for an experienced Maintenance Planner to support maintenance planning and scheduling across production facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities by ensuring materials, resources, and schedules are in place to complete work assignments effectively while minimising disruption to operations.
This role plays a key part in supporting both short-term execution and long-term maintenance strategy within a 24/7 operational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities while minimising impact on operations
- Develop, maintain, and communicate daily and weekly maintenance schedules to relevant stakeholders
- Ensure all materials, parts, and resources are available and staged prior to job execution
- Process work orders, requisitions, and maintenance requests from operational teams
- Coordinate and actively participate in weekly planning meetings with operations and maintenance teams
- Generate maintenance performance reports and track key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Support long-range maintenance planning including outages, shutdowns, and budgeting activities
- Inspect and assess work areas to support future maintenance planning and improvements
- Act as the primary interface between maintenance operations and equipment vendors, suppliers, and contractors
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards at all times
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance planning or maintenance operations within a heavy industrial environment
- Strong understanding of maintenance systems, workflows, and scheduling processes
- Experience working in a 24/7 operational environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety procedures, and maintenance manuals
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse data and draw practical conclusions
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and influence operational priorities
- Willingness to respond to operational requirements outside standard working hours
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SAP or similar maintenance management systems
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project)
- Knowledge of Kronos workforce management systems advantageous
- Experience with AutoCAD or technical drawings is a plus
- Strong reporting and KPI tracking capability
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Further technical or engineering qualifications advantageous
- Health, Safety & Environment:
- Strong commitment to safety, including compliance with MSHA/OSHA-equivalent standards
- Completion of relevant safety and environmental training required
- Strong awareness of environmental and operational risk management practices
