WHATS THE ROLE
Network Engineers are assigned to multi-year transportation projects, including both new applications and our ongoing maintenance program on-site at our customers’ location. This position requires hands-on work with a large city-wide network of cameras, video analytics, video storage/management system, video walls, network management/switches, virtual servers, ground-based radar and other exciting technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, solid technical abilities and relationship building skills both externally and internally.
YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Network & Systems Operations
- Monitor and verify the health of all network systems on a daily basis
- Administer, diagnose, and maintain Layer 2/3 industrial Ethernet switches and firewalls
- Manage server and systems infrastructure, including:
Computer architecture and operating systems (Windows Server, Linux/Unix)
Data storage: NAS, iSCSI, and video recording systems
Virtual environments: Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware, Proxmox
Network Management Systems (NMS)
Video Management Systems (VMS)
Field & Deployment Work
- Participate in field installations, cabinet work, and physical site inspections
- Configure and support IP cameras (PTZ, dome, LPR) and AI-driven video analytics, including License Plate Recognition (LPR) and Video Fire & Smoke Detection (VFSD)
- Support wireless and microwave systems
- Operate in elevated or confined environments such as bridges and equipment enclosures
- Lift and transport equipment up to 50 lbs as needed
Collaboration & Documentation
- Create and maintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams, configuration files, and redlined as-builts
- Collaborate with government agencies, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Travel throughout the Bay Area as required for on-site project support
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 3 years of hands-on experience with network troubleshooting across OSI Layers 1–7
- Layer 1 experience: fiber, copper, electrical circuits, wireless, cellular, PoE
- System administration experience: Windows Server, Active Directory/Microsoft Domains, VMs, storage
- Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, and in roadside or industrial environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with industrial or ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) networks
- Experience with system hardening and data security best practices
- Prior work with contractors and end-user clients on technical projects
- Exposure to industrial protocols (training and support provided)
Preferred Certifications
- Cisco CCNA or equivalent
- CompTIA A , ITF , Network , or Security
- Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)
- VMware Certified Associate
