What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Numerical Control Machinist position at Industrial Talent Group?
We are partnering with a growing, high-mix job shop that is ramping up production and adding multiple CNC Machinist/Programmers (Mill & Lathe) to their team. This is a hands-on role where you will take parts from concept to completion including reading blueprints, programming, setting up, and machining independently.
This shop specializes in large-format components and one-off/custom work, offering a dynamic environment with minimal production repetition and strong long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and/or lathes
- Create and edit programs using Fusion 360 and/or Mastercam
- Interpret prints, models, and work instructions to machine parts accurately
- Set tooling, work offsets, and optimize programs for efficiency
- Run parts from cradle-to-grave (program → setup → completion)
- Work with a variety of materials including steel, aluminum, and stainless
- Perform basic inspection and ensure quality standards are met
- Collaborate with team members in a fast-paced job shop environment
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of CNC machining experience (mill or lathe)
- Hands-on programming experience (Fusion 360 and/or Mastercam)
- Experience with Fanuc controls
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and part drawings
- Strong understanding of setups, tooling, and machining processes
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with GD&T (not required, but a plus)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience machining large parts or heavy materials
- Exposure to high-mix / low-volume job shop environments
- Overhead crane experience (or willingness to be trained)
- Manual machining experience (helpful, but not required)
Compensation Breakdown
- $28–$30/hr: Entry-level programming experience, some training needed
- $30–$35/hr: Solid machinist/programmer with moderate independence
- $36–$38/hr: Highly experienced, can hit the ground running with little to no training
