Position Summary
The Automation Technician plays a critical role in keeping our packaging operations running at peak performance. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing automated packaging equipment and systems. You will work hands-on with advanced automation technology, partnering with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime, improve efficiency, and support continuous improvement across the operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated packaging equipment including case packers, palletizers, conveyors, and robotic systems.
· Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and PLC-related issues.
· Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
· Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) and HMI systems.
· Support equipment startups, changeovers, and line optimization efforts.
· Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
· Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve equipment and process issues.
· Ensure all equipment operates in compliance with safety and quality standards.
· Assist with installation and commissioning of new automation equipment.
· Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation.
· Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Train operators on proper equipment use and basic troubleshooting.
· Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production disruption.
· Complete all work orders within a timely manner.
· Update Work order Management System accordingly.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred.
· 3–7 years of experience working with automated manufacturing or packaging equipment.
· Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
· Strong understanding of electrical systems, sensors, drives, and control systems.
· Experience in packaging, food, or manufacturing environments preferred.
· Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.

Pay commensurate with skills and experience.
Pay: $33.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
