In this role, you will perform and document inspection activities related to pipe welding, pipe fabrication, material traceability, piping isometric drawings, welding procedures, and project specifications. You will work closely with the fabrication shop manager, shop foreman, welders, project managers, QAQC personnel, and third-party inspectors to ensure fabricated piping meets applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with strong pipe fabrication inspection experience, knowledge of piping isometrics, and the ability to support shop quality from material receiving through final inspection and documentation turnover.

What You’ll Do

• Support and implement quality policies and procedures aligned with ICM’s Quality Management System (QMS), promoting strong quality practices within the pipe fabrication shop.
• Perform inspections throughout the pipe fabrication process, including material receiving, fit-up, welding, dimensional verification, visual weld inspection, final inspection, and documentation review.
• Inspect pipe welding and fabrication work for compliance with applicable project specifications, drawings, piping isometrics, welding procedures, codes, and standards.
• Read and interpret piping isometric drawings, spool drawings, weld maps, P&IDs, specifications, and related fabrication documents.
• Verify weld joint preparation, fit-up, alignment, root opening, bevels, branch connections, socket welds, threaded connections, supports, and other pipe fabrication details as required.
• Perform visual weld inspections in accordance with applicable codes, standards, project requirements, and approved welding procedures.
• Verify welding is performed using approved WPSs and by qualified welders within their qualified range.
• Review and maintain welder continuity, weld logs, weld maps, material traceability records, heat numbers, inspection reports, NCRs, and other required QAQC documentation.
• Coordinate and support NDE activities, including tracking welds requiring examination and verifying completion of required testing.
• Identify, document, and help resolve quality issues, including nonconformance reports, corrective actions, and rework verification.
• Work with shop supervision and project teams to ensure fabricated pipe spools meet project requirements prior to shipment.
• Support inspections related to hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, pressure testing documentation, cleaning, coating, tagging, and final turnover packages as required.
• Work alongside third-party inspectors, client representatives, auditors, and authorized inspection personnel during shop inspections, walkthroughs, and formal audits.
• Maintain essential QAQC documentation, including inspection reports, calibration logs, weld records, testing documentation, and fabrication records.
• Verify inspection tools and equipment remain properly calibrated and suitable for use.
• Use company software systems, spreadsheets, electronic forms, and document control tools to manage inspection records and project documentation.
• Perform additional quality-related responsibilities as needed to support pipe fabrication operations.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pipe welding and pipe fabrication inspection experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret piping isometric drawings required.
• Working knowledge of pipe fabrication, welding inspection, weld symbols, material traceability, and shop inspection practices.
• Computer knowledge required, including the ability to use email, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, PDF software, and electronic documentation systems.
• Ability to read and interpret project specifications, drawings, welding procedures, inspection requirements, and applicable codes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document inspection results.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with welders, fitters, shop supervision, project managers, QAQC personnel, and third-party inspectors.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred.
• Pipe welding and pipe fabrication hands-on experience preferred.
• Prior experience working in a pipe fabrication shop preferred.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.9, AWS, ASME Section IX, or similar welding and piping codes preferred.
• Experience reviewing WPSs, PQRs, welder qualifications, weld maps, and NDE reports preferred.
• Experience with pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, or mechanical completion documentation preferred.
• Experience with stainless steel, carbon steel, alloy piping, process piping, utility piping, or industrial piping systems preferred.
• Familiarity with quality management systems, NCRs, CARs, internal audits, and inspection test plans preferred.
• Experience with fabrication tracking software, document control platforms, or construction management software preferred.
