FLSA Status: Full Time / Non-Exempt

Compensation: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour

The Fabrication Shop Helper is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the daily operations of the fabrication shop by assisting fabricators, welders, machine operators, and other shop personnel. This role performs general labor tasks, prepares materials for fabrication, maintains a clean and safe work environment, and helps ensure production schedules are met while following all company safety policies and procedures.

This position provides an opportunity to learn the steel fabrication trade and develop the skills necessary for advancement. What You’ll Do

• Assist fabricators, welders, fitters, machine operators, and other shop personnel with daily production activities.
• Load, unload, move, stage, and organize raw materials, finished products, tools, and equipment using appropriate material handling equipment.
• Prepare steel and other materials for fabrication by measuring, marking, cleaning, grinding, and organizing materials.
• Operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Assist with packaging, banding, labeling, and preparing completed products for shipment or delivery.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by removing scrap materials, disposing of waste, and cleaning of workstations.
• Assist with receiving, unloading, and organizing incoming deliveries and inventory.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of shop equipment as necessary.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Identify and report unsafe working conditions, equipment concerns, or safety hazards to management immediately.
• Work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers to meet production goals and deadlines.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

· Previous experience in construction, manufacturing, warehouse, or fabrication environments is preferred but not required.

· Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.

· Willingness to learn fabrication equipment, processes, and safe work practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience operating forklifts or overhead cranes.

· Basic knowledge of steel fabrication or manufacturing processes.

· OSHA 10 certification or other safety training.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in an industrial shop environment.
