PRE-COLLEGE PROGRAMS (BL-EXP-IUBLA)

Undergraduate Education at Indiana University (IU) Bloomington supports students at every stage of their academic journey, regardless of school or major, through advising, academic programs, career exploration, enrichment opportunities, and innovative teaching.

The Office of Precollege and College Transition Programs, within Undergraduate Education, helps newly admitted IU students transition to college life while getting a head start on their academic careers. Starting college is exciting but it can also feel a little overwhelming. That's why IU Bloomington offers FYS-F100: First-Year Seminar. First-Year Seminar (FYS) is a 1-credit, 8-week course in the fall semester, designed to support first-year students' academic success and personal well-being as they transition to Indiana University Bloomington and to help students start strong, stay strong, and succeed in their first semester and beyond.

Great peer leaders are students who model the habits that help them succeed at IU, like managing their time, staying organized, communicating with instructors, and asking for help. They share real experiences, listen with care, and offer practical support so others know challenges are normal. Peer leaders also promote well-being, encourage connection, and help first-year students find the resources and community they need to thrive.
