A job with Student Life Communications and Marketing provides students the opportunity to work in an agency-like atmosphere where creative problem-solving and collaboration with colleagues lead to the development of effective strategies to build awareness, engagement, and action from target audiences. All Student Life Communications and Marketing staff will contribute to the creation, implementation, and assessment of various marketing and communications initiatives to promote the Office of Student Life and its 30 departments.
The Graphic Designer creates a variety of digital and print designs for campaigns, signage, social media, brochures, posters, and more through research, concept creation, collaboration, and finalizing files to the highest standards.

The Graphic Designer creates a variety of digital and print designs for campaigns, signage, social media, brochures, posters, and more through research, concept creation, collaboration, and finalizing files to the highest standards.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Works closely with full-time staff, student copywriters, and other team members to collaborate on creative solutions to build effective campaigns.
- Apply creativity and design principles to digital and print designs using Adobe Creative Cloud programs, clearly communicating the purpose of the marketing piece for appropriate audiences.
- Follows the project management process steps and Creative Brief to accomplish work.
- Research ideas, background information, previous designs, inspiration, etc.
- Communicates internally regarding critiques, production updates, and the status of projects.
- Communicate with clients in a timely and professional manner. Assures completion of the project and provides digital files to client for production.
- Works closely with various members of the Student Life Marketing team and professional staff/clients from around the Indiana Memorial Union, Student Health Center, IU Housing, and many more departments within Student Life.
- Participate in various meetings, workshops, critiques, and brainstorming sessions as necessary.
Required
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
- Pursuing a degree in Graphic Design or a related field
Required
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (CC): InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Experience creating designs and layouts of campaigns and advertisements
- Understanding of effective design principles and typography
- Fine attention to detail
- Professionalism, dependability, and respect for others
- Exceptional decision-making skills and autonomy
- Exceptional written and communication skills
- Performs well in a team-oriented, collaborative atmosphere
- Strong sense of curiosity and creativity
