Role Description The Assistant Coach is a full-time, on-site role located in Terre Haute, IN, supporting the holistic development and performance of student-athletes. This role assists in planning and conducting practices, developing game strategies, and providing individualized instruction to enhance athletic skills and team cohesion. The Assistant Coach helps evaluate talent, contributes to recruitment activities, and supports academic and personal development in alignment with university values. Daily responsibilities include coordinating with the head coach and support staff, monitoring athlete well-being and compliance with conference and university policies, and contributing to program administration such as scheduling, equipment management, and data tracking. The role also involves fostering a positive, inclusive team culture and representing the program in campus and community outreach activities.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated coaching knowledge and experience in the relevant sport, including skill development, practice planning, and game strategy.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and mentoring abilities to work effectively with student-athletes, staff, and campus partners.
- Organizational and time-management skills to coordinate practices, events, recruitment activities, and administrative tasks.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to supporting the academic, personal, and athletic success of all student-athletes.
- Understanding of NCAA and conference rules, with the ability to model ethical conduct and uphold compliance standards.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree, coaching certifications, or equivalent experience in collegiate athletics are beneficial.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and to meet the physical demands associated with on-field coaching.
- 3-4 years playing or collegiate coaching experience required
