Role Overview:
The IEDC Director of Marketing leads the agency’s integrated marketing strategy in support of statewide business development, stakeholder engagement and brand positioning objectives.
This role is responsible for campaign strategy, industry sector marketing, brand activation and alignment with Business Development priorities. The Director partners closely with the Chief Communications Officer to ensure marketing efforts directly support growth initiatives.
Salary Statement:
The salary range for this position is $80,011 - $85,000 commensurate with education and work experience.
A Day in the Life:
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with economic development goals.
- Lead sector-focused marketing initiatives targeting priority industries.
- Oversee campaign planning, media strategy and brand positioning in close collaboration with the Director of Digital and Content.
- Collaborate with the Business Development team to align marketing activities with attraction, expansion and retention strategies.
- Ensure marketing initiatives support lead generation and relationship development.
- Provide strategic guidance for high-profile announcements and stakeholder engagements.
- Oversee event strategy and activation efforts in partnership with the Senior Manager of Events.
- Ensure events support defined business objectives and measurable outcomes.
- Manage marketing budgets and agency contracts.
- Oversee procurement processes and vendor performance.
- Supervise marketing and events team members.
- Serve as a senior advisor to the Chief Communications Officer.
What You'll Need for Success:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field
Experience:
- 8 years of progressive marketing experience
- 3 years of supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience leading integrated marketing campaigns
- Experience working in economic development, government or B2B marketing
- Experience working with business attraction teams
Ability To:
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously at a high level within tight deadlines
- Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships
- Work within a quickly evolving environment
- Travel occasionally in-state as necessary
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
