GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*):
  1. Supervise and evaluate staff for quality instruction
  2. Lead committees and teams of teachers
  3. Carry out curriculum revisions
  4. Help carry out the mission and goals of the Strategic Plan
  5. Share and implement innovative ideas that improve the school experience for students, parents, and educators. Possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, providing a safe and healthy school climate for students and teachers
  6. Contribute to the administrative and instructional teams as they provide continuing leadership to the District
  7. Communicate proactively and consistently with all stakeholders
  8. Participate as an active member of the K-12 leadership team
  9. Support the high school through leading MTSS support of students' academic and behavioral needs.
  10. Supporting students as needed through the disciplinary process.
  11. Work successfully with students to promote service, initiative, and student leadership
  12. Demonstrate the ability to engage parents in the educational life of the school
  13. Ensure a healthy, safe, orderly environment
  14. Promote a positive school climate and culture

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Experience as an administrator is preferred
  2. Current Ohio administrative certificate/licensure or Ohio alternative administrative license
  3. Integrity and commitment
  4. Poise and comfort in the public arena
  5. Flexible, adaptable, innovative, forward-thinking
  6. Team-oriented

 

PHYSICAL/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Able to access the classroom, office, and appropriate areas of school and District property and facilities.
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Able to present information to individuals, small groups, and large groups in a clear and compelling manner.
  4. Able to work successfully with students, other teachers, support staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
  5. Suited for situations that require the ability to plan ahead yet remain flexible enough to adapt to new situations or react to emergencies.
  6. Suited for situations that require the ability to interact well with other people, but also the ability to work independently.

 

OTHER PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS:
  1. Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible human beings.
  2. Instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
  3. Keep up-to-date and knowledgeable of educational issues, academic content, and instruction-related matters.
  4. Use technology resources in accordance with District policies and administrative guidelines and the provisions of State and Federal law.  Online conduct, including postings to social media, shall be in a manner sensitive to the employee's professional responsibilities.
  5. Perform other duties related to the Assistant Principal's role as assigned.

 

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
  2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
  3. Occasional interaction with students demonstrating challenging behavior

 

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.  In addition, the employee shall be free of any substance, prescribed or otherwise, that impairs the employee's work performance or the safety of others while on duty.
