Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Shipping Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient movement of goods through shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate order fulfillment, and maintaining organized warehouse operations. The candidate must be energetic, meticulous, accurate, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You will be required to work with product codes, quantities, product descriptions and detailed shipping instructions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Identifies and gathers correct product items and quantities as ordered; utilizes first in/first out (FIFO) picking order by selecting the oldest items first.
- Pulls orders from printer, picks, packs and ships customer orders daily.
- Adequately packs items to withstand rugged handling by freight carriers while minimizing freight costs to customers and to the company.
- Verifies others' picked orders for accuracy of items and quantities, including proper paperwork, labels, stickers, etc. with shipments.
- Enters UPS shipping data in UPS shipping software and FedEx shipping data into FedEx shipping software. May be responsible for processing finished orders into UPS computer.
- Determines applicable shipping and handling charges and values.
- Completes miscellaneous shipping paperwork and forms.
- Prepares and/or checks HazMat shipments. Maintains CFR 49 and lATA certifications if applicable. Handles HazMat shipping when required.
- Assists with loading and unloading of product to/from freight carriers.
- Maintains forklift and/or tow motor certification if applicable.
- Moves product manually and/or with a forklift, tow motor or hand jack.
- Assists with inventory replenishment and cycle counts when needed.
- Works closely with Customer Service Department.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize warehouse distribution processes and improve overall workflow.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires excellent communication skills (verbal, written, reading, listening).
- Detail orientated and extreme accuracy needed in picking products and data entry into the computer system.
- Basic math skills required.
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- HazMat certified a plus
- Forklift certified a plus
- Prior knowledge or experience working with HTS Codes and Prop 65 requirements a plus
- Prior experience in Shipping/Receiving a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 65 pounds at times.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
