Overview:
As a Senior UI/UX Designer, you will support complex initiatives across their lifecycle by bringing structure, clarity, and a human-centered perspective to how problems are understood and addressed. This role focuses on helping teams and stakeholders navigate ambiguity, align priorities, and communicate intent—whether work is at an early, mid, or later stage.
You will lead discovery and design activities that translate user needs, operational constraints, and business objectives into actionable insights and practical design artifacts. Through strong facilitation and communication, you will help ensure shared understanding among technical teams, non-technical partners, and leadership, enabling more informed decisions and effective outcomes.
Working alongside cross-functional teams in a government-facing consulting environment, you will contribute to user-centered approaches that improve collaboration, reduce risk, and strengthen how work moves from concept through execution. Curiosity, adaptability, and continuous learning are central to this role, as is a commitment to advancing thoughtful, inclusive design practices across the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead discovery efforts to identify user needs, pain points, requirements, and business objectives.
- Plan and facilitate stakeholder interviews, workshops, and working sessions to drive alignment and clarity.
- Translate ambiguous problem spaces into clearly defined problem statements and priorities.
- Communicate design intent, requirements, and constraints effectively to technical, non-technical, and leadership audiences.
- Present findings, recommendations, and design concepts to stakeholders in a clear, inclusive manner.
- Synthesize research and discovery findings to produce actionable artifacts (e.g. affinity diagrams, service design diagrams, and customer journey maps).
- Develop wireframes to explore solutions and gather early feedback.
- Advocate for user-centered design practices and contribute to the team’s growth in discovery and design methodologies.
- Demonstrate curiosity and a growth mindset by continuously learning new tools, methods, and domain knowledge to improve discovery and design outcomes.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading discovery and requirements gathering activities.
- Proficiency in creating design artifacts using tools such as Figma, Miro, or similar.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting in and leading meetings.
- Experience with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Miro, Sketch).
- Secret Clearance.
- 3 years of relevant experience with a BA/BS degree.
