About the Role
ExecTech is seeking a PowerApps Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support application modernization efforts at the U.S. Department of State. This role is ideal for a hands-on developer with deep expertise in Power Platform—especially Power Apps—who can assess existing legacy tools and deliver modern, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
You'll work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business needs, evaluate current .NET and SharePoint apps, and determine how to best transition or enhance them using low-code/no-code solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Assess & Recommend: Review existing legacy apps (primarily .NET and SharePoint) and determine if they can be refactored, replaced, or enhanced using Power Platform.
Design & Build: Develop end-to-end solutions in Power Apps and Power Automate, backed by Dataverse and integrated with M365 and other data sources.
Prototype Quickly: Build working proofs of concept to demonstrate how Power Platform can solve real business problems.
Support & Scale: Help business users and citizen developers extend and maintain apps.
Documentation & Training: Create clean documentation and provide knowledge transfer to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ensure Best Practices: Promote scalable architecture, clean UX, data governance, and security standards throughout all builds.
Required Qualifications
5 years in IT solution development, including 2 years hands-on with Power Platform (especially Power Apps and Power Automate)
Experience reviewing legacy applications and identifying modernization paths
Strong understanding of Power Fx, Dataverse schema design, and solution architecture
Comfortable integrating APIs, third-party systems, and enterprise data sources
Skilled at mentoring users on app maintenance and enhancement
Proficiency with M365 tools, Power BI, and basic scripting (PowerShell, JavaScript, etc.)
Nice to Have
Experience in federal environments or with high compliance systems
Familiarity with Agile or Scrum-based delivery
Knowledge of SharePoint Framework (SPFx)
Strong UX/UI instincts for building user-friendly interfaces
