Title: Plant Manager
Basic Function: Responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of a power plant. This includes all operations, maintenance, staffing, training, testing and subcontracting on site.
Reports to: Vice President – Operations and Maintenance
Coordinates with: Asset Management Group, Engineering & Construction Management Group
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensures safety of personnel and affected public in all plant operations.
2. Leads, directs, plans and coordinates power plant operations & maintenance to maximize the long-term value of the facility.
3. Maintains regulatory compliance, in coordination with the EHS Coordinator of all Federal, State and local regulations and associated permits. This includes all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations.
4. Accountable for site contractual requirements (i.e., O&M Agreements).
5. Direct responsibility for developing and managing project annual and five-year OpEx and Capex budget and O&M budget performance.
6. Responsible for the implementation, management, updating and maintenance of all plant procedures, site policies, training programs, safety programs and work practices.
7. Monitors and reports plant performance; investigates and corrects any abnormal conditions.
8. Directs and coordinates operations and maintenance work force in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the power plant to meet production schedules. This includes all scheduled, daily and major maintenance, emergency repairs and retrofits.
9. Proposes and implements equipment modifications and plant improvements in coordination with the corporate engineering team and third party support.
10. Plans and manages the hiring and training of all plant personnel.
11. Assures a proper working environment by maintaining morale and good employee relations.
12. Prepares and approves performance reviews, salary adjustments and disciplinary actions.
13. In Coordination with the Asset Management Group responsible for representing Company to the local communities, local interaction with elected and appointed officials and initial interface with the customer.
14. Plans and directs the development of technical, operational, financial and leadership skills of the facility staff.
15. Travel to other sites and other locations as directed, up to 10% of the time.
Qualifications:
1. Must have a detailed understanding of electrical generation power plants, including startup, operations and maintenance of power plant equipment, budgeting, performance monitoring, personnel management and corporate compliance.
2. Position requires five years of managerial or supervisory experience with budgetary responsibility.
3. A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science and management experience in the electric generation industry is desirable.
4. Ten years experience, with progressive increases in responsibilities, in startup, operations and maintenance of power plant equipment.
5. Maintain a valid driver’s license.
Desired:
Experience with Gas Turbines (GE LM6000’s or similar), large generators, large inlet chiller systems, battery storage technologies (LDES), Simple Cycle or Combined Cycle facilities.
