Location: Remote/Hybrid (1 - 2 weeks for training onsite)

Employment Type: Contract

Start Date: ASAP

Shift Time: 8am to 4pm

Pay Rate: $30 to $40/hr on W2

As a Medical Coder, you will review patient medical records and assign correct ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for inpatient and/or outpatient services. You’ll ensure coding meets CMS, AMA, and NYCHH guidelines while supporting reimbursement, audit readiness, and reporting accuracy.

• Review and analyze clinical documentation for completeness
• Assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes
• Apply correct modifiers and coding guidelines
• Query providers for clarification when needed
• Ensure compliance with CMS, AMA, and NYCHH coding standards
• Meet productivity and quality benchmarks
• Support denial resolution and billing accuracy
• Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA)

• Active coding certification: CPC, CCS, CCS-P, or CCA
• 1–3 years of coding experience (hospital or professional)
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS
• Experience with EHR systems (Epic preferred)
• Ability to meet productivity and accuracy requirements
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy

• DRG/APC coding experience
• Familiarity with Medicaid/Medicare billing guidelines
