About IMCOR

Interstate Mechanical, LLC — IMCOR — is seeking a skilled CAD Designer to join our Operations/BIM team. IMCOR offers a challenging and team-oriented work environment focused on quality, safety, coordination, and successful project execution.

We are looking for a detail-oriented designer with strong mechanical piping and plumbing system experience who can support project teams through accurate drawings, coordination, clash detection, and fabrication-ready deliverables.

Position Summary

The CAD Designer is responsible for producing, coordinating, and maintaining detailed mechanical piping system drawings using AutoCAD Fabrication MEP, Revit, Navisworks, and related design/coordination software.

This role works closely with project managers, engineers, BIM leadership, vendors, and field teams to ensure designs are accurate, fully coordinated, code-compliant, and aligned with project specifications. The CAD Designer plays a key role in supporting constructability, coordination, fabrication, and efficient system routing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and modify detailed mechanical piping system drawings using AutoCAD Fabrication MEP, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Detail piping systems for coordination, fabrication, and project execution.
  • Design and coordinate mechanical piping systems, including chilled water lines, hot water heating lines, equipment connections, and related layouts.
  • Produce isometric spool drawings for fabrication and project coordination.
  • Review project specifications, contract plans, scopes of work, and submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate system routing, equipment layouts, material requirements, fixture schedules, and specification checklists.
  • Confirm DX — Direct Expansion — line sizes and lengths with vendors to support proper equipment performance and compliance with manufacturer requirements.
  • Create floor sleeve and wall penetration coordination drawings with required dimensions and elevations.
  • Conduct site visits as needed to verify field conditions, review installation coordination, and identify cost-saving or constructability opportunities.
  • Generate RFIs with clear descriptions of conflicts and suggested resolutions for project managers.
  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings and collaborate with other trades to resolve conflicts.
  • Conduct quality control checks on drawings to confirm accuracy, contract compliance, and efficient system routing.
  • Assist in preparing CAD shop drawings, field turnover packages, access panel verifications, fixture schedules, and other project documentation.
  • Use Bluebeam Revu for document markup and collaboration.
  • Use Procore for project documentation, RFI tracking, and coordination.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with general contractors, engineers, clients, vendors, project teams, and field teams.
  • Attend internal and external project coordination meetings as required.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience detailing mechanical piping systems.
  • Experience with mechanical piping systems, or MEP design/detailing.
  • Strong understanding of piping layouts, blueprints, contract documents, and construction coordination.
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Fabrication MEP, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Experience working in a BIM coordination environment and collaborating with multiple trades.
  • Ability to identify design conflicts and propose practical resolutions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain accuracy with minimal supervision.

Required Software Skills

  • AutoCAD Fabrication MEP — modeling and detailing mechanical piping and plumbing systems.
  • Revit — BIM modeling and coordination.
  • Navisworks — clash detection and coordination reviews.
  • Bluebeam Revu — document markup and collaboration.
  • Procore — project management, RFI tracking, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of mechanical piping systems, blueprints, and contract documents.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to coordinate with project managers, engineers, vendors, and field personnel.
