Journeyman Pipefitter

Overview:
Key Responsibilities:
- Lay out, fabricate, and install pipe systems including flanges, valves, and fittings per engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Perform work safely in accordance with jobsite safety standards, including in elevated positions, tight spaces, and all-weather environments, maintain a clean and organized work area, comply with and follow company policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper alignment, fit, and tolerances during installation to meet specifications.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, customers, vendors and others in a courteous, respectful and professional manner.
Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs piping systems, pipe supports, piping instrumentation, valving and pumps for systems including but not limited to, steam, condensate, hot/cold/potable water, natural gas, compressed air, food grade product and sanitizing agents.
Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers according to job specifications
Cuts pipe using various methods including bandsaws, cutoff wheels, cutting torch and Fisher saw
Threads pipe using threading machine
Bends tube using tube bender
Assembles and installs a variety of steel, stainless steel, copper and PVC/CPVC pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, glued, and welded methods of joining.
Secures piping to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools
Test piping systems for leaks by method of hydro/pneumatic pressure for indication of leaks
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Regular and timely attendance.
- Adhere to federal, state and local laws.
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or related fields preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of pipefitting experience (preferred)
- Completion of pipefitting course from trade or technical school (preferred)
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge and ability to layout pipe routing using best practices and techniques
- Solid understanding of pipe fitting techniques, tolerances, and trade practices
- Ability to read and interpret piping schematics, layout drawings, and isometric diagrams.
- Proficient in basic math, blueprint reading, and comprehension skills.
- Use a variety of tools including pipe threaders, cutting tools, grinders, levels, and measuring devices.
- Work with various pipe materials such as steel, galvanized, copper, PVC, and stainless steel.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to think critically and act decisively in emergency situations.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical clients.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or after-hours, as needed.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces, high places, and noisy settings.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
- Ability to travel regularly and work at different client locations, sometimes requiring overnight stays.
- This position involves traveling to client sites, which may include industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, or construction sites.
- Exposure to industrial machinery, electrical equipment, chemicals, and other hazards typical of industrial environments.
- The work environment may require exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
