IEA is a division of Engendren Corporation. Engendren manufactures large scale radiators/ heat transfer units. We are an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) making radiators with copper cores and steel frames through metal fabrication, welding, heavy assembly with pneumatic hand tools, QC/ ISO, material handling and use of hoists and cranes.
Job Summary: The Maintenance Custodian for Buildings and Grounds performs cleaning service, on facilities and grounds. In addition, performs custodial duties in and around the plant. This Maintenance Custodian receives specific work assignments under general supervision and resolves most with general supervisory assistance. The Maintenance Custodian is expected to follow the Company’s Policies, principles and to observe safe work practices at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary:
- Gathers necessary supplies and equipment to complete assigned tasks.
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled (custodial and routine service tasks) on buildings and grounds.
- Performs routine maintenance activities.
- Identifies and reports repair problems to the Maintenance department.
- Moves materials from storage areas to plant as needed using power equipment (e.g., industrial trucks, power hoists) or, when appropriate, by hand; loads/unloads vehicles.
- Works in a safe manner, follows all safety rules,
- Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with IEA’s ISO and Quality standards.
- Contributes to the Company’s overall improvement efforts and supports IEA’s Six Sigma efforts.

- Custodial Duties:
- Cleaning of all windows in the facility.
- Dusting all surfaces in the facility.
- Trash removal- collecting and taking out trash and recycling.
- Maintaining a thorough inventory of cleaning supplies
- Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
- Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restrooms and common areas throughout facility.
- Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with cleaners.
- Drives vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including industrial trucks, vans, or industrial vacuum cleaners.
- Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department.
- Cleans all microwaves, refrigerators, chairs, tables, counters, water fountains, sinks and coffee kiosks.
- Responsible for the teardown and clean up of company-sponsored events.
- Snow removal as needed.
- Responsibility of 6S for equipment and supplies.
Physical Demands:
- Maximum lifting requirement (pounds): 50 (occasionally), 25 (frequently).
- Maximum moving requirement (pounds): Over 100 with assistance.
- Maintaining the physical condition necessary for the following: Frequent lifting, carrying, standing, sitting, walking, climbing, crouching, stooping, squatting, and twisting upper body.
- Working at heights off the ground up to 30 feet.
- Vision requirements: Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.
Work Environment:
- Work location: Office, Metal fabrication/assembly shop and indoor/outdoor storage areas.
- Exposure to: Fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts/equipment including overhead cranes, sharp/heavy materials, inclement weather.
- Personal protective equipment requirement: Safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
Position Requirements:
- Key skills, abilities and knowledge:
- Ability to read, understand and carry out oral and written instructions (job orders).
- Knowledge of buildings and equipment and common custodian practices (including procedures, and tools).
- Ability to diagnose problems and perform minor repairs.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time.
- Ability to use appropriate cleaning tools, such as scrub mops, hand sweepers, mop buckets to clean non-carpeted areas such as lobbies, stairways, and corridors.
- Ability to operate industrial equipment including lift trucks, power hoists, etc.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to practice safe work practices.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
- Experiential: Three or more years of custodial or related experience is desirable.
- Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions.
- Forklift operator 2-year minimum.
- Educational: Related technical training (high school or beyond) is desirable but not essential.
- Certificates, Licenses: Forklift operator certification, stand up and sit down; driver’s license.
