Quality Inspector - 2nd shift

Job Summary: The Quality Inspector examines incoming raw materials, manufactured parts/components and finished goods to ensure compliance with all contract specifications and quality program requirements according to Company and ISO standards.  The Quality Inspector receives specific work assignments under general supervision and resolves most problems with some supervisory assistance.  The Quality Inspector communicates with the Production Supervisor and Material Handlers to facilitate the movement of materials from incoming to inventory and production work centers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary:

  • Conducts inspections and tests (visual, dimensional, content, etc.) on incoming and WIP components and materials.
  • Utilize blueprints, schematics, and solid works drawings as reference.
  • Identifies, quarantines and documents non-conforming parts or materials detected during incoming, WIP, or final inspection activities.
  • Maintains all inspection records relating to individual inspection activities.
  • Use precision inspection measuring devices. (Calipers, micrometers, tape measures, etc.)
  • Must be capable of performing 100% dimensional inspections.
  • Verifies and identifies (tags) incoming components/materials for inventory purposes.
  • Conducts final inspection or audit of finished goods to ensure conformance with order.
  • Maintains all inspection records relating to individual inspection activities.
  • Adheres to ISO quality procedures.
  • Cleans and maintains all assigned areas and equipment.
  • Works in a safe manner at all times.
  • Facilitate, communicate and monitor re-work and scrap transactions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Maximum lifting requirement (pounds):  50 (occasionally), 25 (frequently).
  • Maximum moving requirement (pounds):  75 (with assistance).
  • Maintaining physical condition necessary for the following:  Frequent standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting upper body, or climbing.
  • Working at heights off the ground up to 15 feet.
  • Vision requirements:  Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.

Work Environment:

  • Work location(s):  Metal fabrication/assembly shop; plant grounds; shop office with computer;
  • Exposure to:  Fumes, airborne particles, wet/humid (non-weather) conditions, toxic/caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts/equipment, inclement weather conditions.
  • Personal protective equipment requirement:  Safety glasses, safety shoes.  Hardhat, gloves and ear protection as necessary.  Additional equipment per location requirements.
Qualifications:

Position Requirements:

  • Key skills, abilities and knowledge:
    • Basic Computer skills
    • Good math and technical skills.
    • Highly detail orientated
    • Strong understanding of quality control standards and testing techniques.
    • Ability to read and understand job requirements and material specifications, shipping/receiving documents, shop drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
    • Working knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
    • Ability to communicate (oral/written) and work effectively with others.
    • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with other employees in the performance of inspection duties.
    • Ability to plan and organize work and conduct inspection activities on a thorough and consistent basis.
    • Skill in using and maintaining appropriate inspection tools and equipment including Tape measure, calipers, and other various gages.
  • Experience:  Two or more years of Quality Control related manufacturing experience.  Background in electromechanical assemblies is preferred.
  • Education:  High school or equivalent.
  • Certificates, Licenses, etc.:  Certification in quality control is preferred.  Forklift operator certification is desirable.

Our second shift is from Monday through Thursday: 1:30pm to 12:00am

Overtime is worked Friday and Saturday
