Summary Scope of Role
The Restaurant Bartender is responsible for skillfully preparing and servicing beverages for servers and guests in a speedy, efficient, friendly, and professional manner.
Primary Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - Prepare drinks for the customers and servers ensuring that the proper materials and supplies are on hand.
- Customer service (talking to guests) and offering knowledge of the hotel and area is critical.
- Ensure that minors and intoxicated persons are not served alcoholic beverages.
- Act as the cashier and service bartender for the servers when necessary.
- Maintain proper pours to control costs.
- Keep accurate count of consumed beverages and accurately account through point of sale system.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the bar area through disposing of all waste, clearing and cleaning all glassware, and wiping down bar and preparation areas.
- Provide opening and closing inventory of spirits.
- All other duties as assigned.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist servers, other bartenders, and bar porters when necessary.
- Stock all supplies including glassware, operating inventory of liquor and garnish.
- Participate in the deep cleaning of the outlet.
Experience and Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be minimum age to serve alcohol and possess all local licenses and certification required by law.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a high-volume bar required.
- Customer service experience preferred.
Competencies / Skills / Abilities
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have knowledge of and be able to operate all equipment related to the outlet, including, but not limited to, coffee maker and cash terminal.
- Must have a strong knowledge of drink preparation and applicable health standards. This requires local licenses and bartending certification.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, ordinances and regulations and IDM’s policy regarding serving alcohol to minors and intoxicated patrons.
- Requires cash handling and credit system procedures to be followed
- Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor, contributing to a positive guest experience and team environment.
- Adapt to changing circumstances and guest needs with flexibility and composure.

Schedule Opportunities
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
- 5-6 shifts per week based on business needs.
- Weekdays, Weekends, and Holidays based on business need.
- Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
