How You Make An Impact

The Quality Coordinator supports day-to-day quality activities across manufacturing operations by coordinating and executing inspections, managing nonconforming material, working with suppliers to manage quality escapes, maintaining quality records, supporting corrective actions, and partnering with production, engineering, and leadership teams to improve product quality and process consistency.

The Details

Material Quality

  • Collect and submit visual samples for evaluation.
  • Inspect materials per engineering drawings and inspection requests.
  • Coordinate isolation, rework, sorting, and disposition of nonconforming product.
  • Communicate quality information.
  • Support quality reports and reviews.
  • Support process improvement experiments.
  • Maintain material quality status in SAP.
  • Partner with quality, supervision, and management to investigate root causes.
  • Respond to quality issues independently or as part of a team.
  • Data Analysis:
  • Understand SAP stock categories and related material status changes.
  • Review data collection for usefulness and improvement opportunities.
  • Identify data trends and outliers.

Inventory Quality

  • Assist with cycle count bin locations.
  • Research cycle count variances over defined dollar thresholds.
  • Research missing or found warehouse materials.
  • Maintain inventory quality in SAP.
  • Improve receiving and shipping quality controls.
  • Data Analysis:
  • Understand material movement from receiving to shipping and identify inventory discrepancy root causes.
  • Review data collection for usefulness and improvement opportunities.
  • Identify data trends and outliers.

Training Quality

  • Support the Training Team by:
    • Training users as needed.
    • Maintaining employee training records.
    • Maintaining training documentation.
    • Conduct process audits to verify training compliance.
    • Help supervisors and leads create value stream maps.
    • Partner with supervisors, leads, and workers on CI events.

    Communication and Documentation

    • Clearly communicate findings.
    • Initiate and monitor quality and inventory SAP transactions.
    • Maintain quality and inventory SharePoint sites.
    • Develop quality reports as needed.
    • Maintain open verbal and electronic communication and formal and informal documentation

    Qualifications & Skills

    • High school diploma or equivalent required, associate degree in technical, manufacturing, quality, or related field preferred
    • Basic math and algebra capability required
    • Blueprint reading and GD&T proficiency
    • ASQ Certified Quality Process Analyst (CQPA) strongly preferred
    • Six Sigma Yellow Belt (CSSYB) or equivalent continuous improvement training preferred
    • Ability to read drawings, weld callouts, GD&T, tolerances, work instructions, inspection plans, and quality documents
    • Experience with measuring tools and inspection equipment required
    • Ability to support MSA, capability studies, statistics, control charts, and FPY analysis
    • Knowledge of material control and nonconforming material processes
    • Root-cause and corrective-action experience, including 8D, A3, and Ishikawa
    • Familiarity with PFMEA, audits, process verification, waste reduction, and CI
    • 3 years of related manufacturing, quality, inspection, production, or technical experience preferred
    • Effective English reading, writing, and speaking skills
    • Knowledge of machinery, safety procedures, work rules, and policies
    • Ability to obtain forklift license if required
    • Strong attention to detail, judgment, and quality focus
    • Clear written, verbal, technical, and non-technical communication
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data systems; SAP preferred.

    Availability

    • Must be available to work five 8-hour day shifts: 8am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.
    • Must be able to support overtime, schedule changes, or business needs as required by site operations.

    At Oregon Tool, we provide a reasonable, good-faith estimate of the compensation range for this role of $50,000 to $62,000 . Final offers are based on various factors such as experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity. This range may vary based on geographic location where the position is filled, and most new hires are not typically hired at the top of the range.
