Job Description
Class A Truck Driver Summary/Objective: The Class A Truck Driver is dependable and organized who possesses a great deal of drive and physical stamina who thrives working on the road and consistently ensure safe and accurate deliveries and pickups. The Class A Truck Driver must be detail and team oriented, efficient, and have a clean driving record. Responsibilities:
-Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned delivery vehicle.
-Drive trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
-Pull a towed weight exceeding 10,000 lbs.
-Ensures trailer hitch is properly and securely attached to tractor unit.
-Transports the following but not limited to; small and heavy equipment, materials, supplies from the place of origin to assigned destination.
-Pick-up loads and organizes equipment in an ordered, logical manner.
-Ensures contents are properly secured on truck to prevent accidents, breakage or damage.
-Safely and efficiently handle and unload equipment and or supplies at selected destinations.
-Obtains signatures or warehouse scans to confirm and complete deliveries with customers.
-Assists in mapping delivery routes.
-Stay in predetermined route and ensure timely deliveries.
-Communicates with Rental Department and Equipment Department as needed.
-Confirms contents of each shipment matches the manifest or contract documents.
-Performs inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip.
-Checks weather conditions and road reports before departure.
-Always ensures your vehicle is kept clean and in good representation of the company.
-Maintains and services vehicle as needed in coordination with the Equipment Manager (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
-Notifies Equipment Manager of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered. -Follows delivery schedule at appropriate times.
-Maintains detailed driving and delivery logs along with taking pictures of equipment when a swap is made outside of the rental yard in order for proper billing of hours and or damages.
-Honestly and accurately tracks and reports working hours.
-Adheres to company rules and regulations.
-Obeys all applicable traffic laws and drives accordingly to the weather/road conditions.
-Complies with ICC and DOT regulations.
-Makes SAFETY a priority at ALL times.
-Performs other duties as required by upper management.
Requirements:
-High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
-Valid Class A driver’s license required.
-2 years proven experience with tractor-trailer driving preferred. -Clean driving record with no moving violations.
-Must pass a background check and drug test.
-Must pass DOT physical.
-Skilled at driving large vehicles.
-Comfortable maneuvering and parking tractor-trailer.
-Alert, focused, and detail-oriented. -Physically and mentally fit.
-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time.
-Able to operate an electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and small and heavy equipment.
-Proficient using GPS and other routing systems.
-An innate sense of direction.
-Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful.
-High level of composure and good stress management.
-Team Player.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
