Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Chicago/Milwaukee Area (Onsite at 8554 Lindenwood Road, Rockford, IL 61109)
Employment Type: Contract (6 months, with potential for full-time conversion)
Work Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Core Hours: 9 AM - 3 PM Central Time

Position Summary:
We are seeking a driven and technically skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to oversee the lifecycle of critical mechanical equipment in our gas processing operations. From initial design and procurement to commissioning and ongoing maintenance, you will ensure our systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role offers the opportunity to be a key player in multidisciplinary projects, blending technical expertise with hands-on project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage equipment lifecycle, including specification, selection, procurement, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Ensure all pressure vessels and piping designs comply with ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 and ASME B31.3 standards.
- Collaborate with Process, Electrical, and Controls teams for equipment installation and commissioning.
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting, maintenance, and reliability improvements of rotating equipment.
- Assist in project scope, schedule, and budget management from concept through completion.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or chemical processing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ASME pressure vessel and piping codes.
- Demonstrated experience with industrial rotating equipment and mechanical systems.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to motivate cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Hands-on mechanical troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred:
- Experience with centrifugal blowers, oil-flooded screw compressors, or industrial mixers.
- Project engineering or management experience, including cost and schedule control.
- Familiarity with gas processing, oil & gas, or chemical industries.
- Military technical training.
- Knowledge of industrial gases and pipeline safety.
- Experience in environmental sustainability sectors such as biogas, renewable energy, or waste treatment.

- PPE provided.
- Will work with chemicals in a gas processing facility (training provided).
- Position classified as Safety Sensitive.
- Potential for full-time employment post-contract.
