About the Opportunity
A rapidly growing photonics company developing next-generation optical computing and optical interconnect technologies is seeking a Photonics & Electronics Test Engineering Manager to lead the development and execution of test strategies across photonic devices, optical modules, and electronic assemblies.
This role combines deep technical ownership with leadership responsibility and will play a key role in scaling products from prototype through high-volume manufacturing.
The successful candidate will lead the design and deployment of automated test systems, drive yield improvement initiatives, and build a high-performing team supporting advanced photonic products.
What You'll Do
- Own test strategy and coverage for: Silicon photonics devices / Lasers / Photodetectors / Optical modules / PCBAs / Integrated photonic systems
- Lead electrical test development including: ICT / Boundary scan / Functional test / System-level validation
- Develop and deploy automated manufacturing test systems and optical alignment platforms.
- Drive Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews.
- Develop scalable test software and automation frameworks using Python.
- Architect automated test platforms utilizing: Lasers / Optical power meters / Optical spectrum analyzers / Cameras / Oscilloscopes / SMUs / Pattern generators
- Support product development from EVT through production.
- Build and lead a team of test engineers and technicians.
- Drive: Yield improvement / Failure analysis / Root cause investigations / Statistical process control / Manufacturing test optimization
- Support factory ramp activities and contract manufacturer test transfer.
Required Experience
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or related discipline.
- 8 years of experience in: Photonics Test Engineering / Optical Module Test. / PCBA Test Engineering / Manufacturing Test Development
- 3 years of technical leadership or people management experience.
- Strong experience with: Silicon Photonics / Optical Modules / Lasers / Photodetectors / Optical Interconnects / Mixed-signal PCBAs
- Experience with: Automated Test Equipment (ATE) / Manufacturing Test Systems / DFT methodologies / Yield analysis / Strong Python programming skills.
- Experience supporting NPI and manufacturing ramp activities.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and production environments.
