IC Resources is excited to announce that we are working with an innovative silicon photonics company developing next-generation optical interconnect technologies for AI, high-performance computing, and advanced networking applications.
As part of continued growth, they are seeking a Photonics Layout & Design Automation Engineer to help build and scale their photonic design infrastructure, layout environment, and automation capabilities.
What You'll Do
- Drive and participate across various development activities including schematic-driven layout and design, P-cell development, PDK management, and physical verification.
- Evaluate and implement integrated environments for photonics simulation and layout tools.
- Contribute to the long-term roadmap for photonics design automation.
- Collaborate with design, process, and test teams to develop CAD infrastructure that supports DfX requirements and foundry rule compliance.
- Manage in-house photonic component models and layout libraries with proper revision control and regression testing.
- Monitor quality escapes and deploy corrective actions through structured root-cause analysis.
What We're Looking For
- 5 years of integrated circuit layout and design automation experience, ideally within integrated photonics or semiconductor environments.
Strong understanding of:
- Simulation and layout automation
- PDK development and management
- Physical verification (LVS / DRC)
- CAD infrastructure and environment management
- Experience with:
- P-cell development
- LVS / DRC run-set development
- Source code revision control
- Regression testing methodologies
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as:
- Cadence / Synopsys / Luceda / KLayout
- Familiarity with semiconductor fabrication processes.
- Experience managing design libraries and source control systems.
- Strong Python and Linux scripting capabilities.
Preferred Experience
- Silicon photonics and optoelectronic device knowledge.
- Experience with commercial photonics simulation environments from Synopsys, Cadence, Luceda, or Ansys.
- Exposure to photonic integrated circuits (PICs), optical interconnects, co-packaged optics, or optical I/O technologies.
