Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – PRN
Location: Flagstaff, AZ 86004
Job Type: PRN (As Needed)
Shift: 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM or Night Shift)
Schedule: Every other weekend required; hours not guaranteed (up to ~40 hrs/week possible)
Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct care and support to Veterans in a long-term care setting. This role assists with daily living activities, basic patient care, and support services while maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment. The CNA works under the supervision of licensed nursing staff and follows all facility policies, state regulations, and agency procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility
- Support transfers, ambulation, and positioning of residents
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, etc.)
- Collect specimens (urine, sputum, stool) as directed
- Assist with feeding, meal delivery, and ensuring resident comfort during dining
- Respond promptly to call lights and resident requests
- Assist nursing staff with basic procedures (e.g., enemas, suppositories, post-surgical care, post-mortem care)
- Maintain accurate documentation in medical records and worksheets
- Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and care areas (linens, bedding, sanitation)
- Transport residents to appointments or internal facility areas as needed
- Report changes in physical or mental condition to licensed nursing staff immediately
- Support emergency response situations following facility protocols
- Participate in quality improvement programs (QAPI, AMS processes)
Required Qualifications
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license – State of Arizona
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
- TB skin test (2-step required)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- COVID vaccination or declination
- OIG/SAM clearance
- Ability to pass facility onboarding and compliance requirements
- Must be local to Flagstaff, AZ and available for in-person interview within 1 week of posting close
