Job Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care and support to veterans at Tucson. The role involves assisting residents with daily living activities, supporting nursing staff, maintaining patient safety, and ensuring comfort and dignity in accordance with facility policies and veteran care standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterans with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility support
- Support transfers, ambulation, and positioning of patients
- Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, etc.)
- Collect specimens (urine, sputum, stool) and track intake/output
- Assist nursing staff with basic procedures (e.g., enemas, suppositories, post-operative care, post-mortem care)
- Observe and report changes in physical and mental condition of residents
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
- Provide meal assistance and support dining services
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation of patient care areas
- Respond promptly to patient calls and emergencies under nurse supervision
- Transport patients to appointments and assist with clerical tasks when needed
- Follow facility systems including AMS (Arizona Management System) and QAPI processes
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license – Arizona
- CPR/BLS Certification
- Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Negative TB skin test
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- COVID vaccination card (as required)
- Food Handler’s Card (if required)
