Position Overview
The This Is Me Wellness Tour is a youth-centered initiative focused on confidence-building, self-expression, and holistic wellness for girls and teens. We are seeking a Volunteer Hair Care Lab Instructor to facilitate an interactive Hair Care Lab that empowers participants to understand, care for, and celebrate their natural hair as an essential part of self-confidence, identity, and wellness.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate a hands-on Hair Care Lab for youth participants in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment
Educate participants on basic natural hair care practices, hair textures, and healthy routines
Lead a guided hair oil–making activity using natural ingredients provided by the program
Encourage positive self-image, confidence, and cultural pride through age-appropriate discussion
Model professionalism, inclusivity, and trauma-informed engagement with youth
Collaborate with the Wellness Tour team to support smooth program delivery
Qualifications
Experience or knowledge in natural hair care, cosmetology, beauty education, or related fields
Passion for youth empowerment, wellness, and confidence-building
Comfortable working with children and teens in group settings
Strong communication skills and a supportive, encouraging demeanor
Ability to volunteer for scheduled tour dates in Atlanta
Preferred (Not Required)
Experience facilitating workshops or group instruction
Background in education, youth development, or community wellness
Familiarity with culturally responsive or identity-affirming programming
