Position: SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER
The Sustainability Manager reports to the Director, External Affairs & Sustainability and plays a key role in advancing the Company’s long-term Sustainability Strategy, including its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives. This position supports the development, execution, and reporting of sustainability initiatives, with primary responsibility for leading organization-wide metrics and producing the Company’s annual corporate responsibility report for internal and external audiences. The role also supports a range of additional corporate reporting and disclosure activities, including sustainability standards, ESG ratings and rankings, and investor and stakeholder information requests.
Location: Reno, Nevada OR Toronto Canada - could require occasional travel to project sites across Northern Nevada.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and support the annual i-80 Gold Sustainability Report process, including data collection and analysis, content development, and coordination with internal stakeholders and external technical consultants.
- Collect, manage, and validate inputs and outcome metrics to support additional annual corporate and sustainability-related reporting.
- Support the Sustainability & Resiliency Committee by providing subject matter expertise on sustainability topics and emerging risks, and by contributing to the effective management and monitoring of those risks.
- Manage submissions to selected Sustainability/ESG rankings, ratings, and assessments, including those requested by investors, analysts, publications, and industry organizations.
- Coordinate closely with subject matter experts across the organization to support reporting deliverables and to respond to RFPs, investor inquiries, and other key stakeholder requests (including using digital platforms to manage data and reporting).
- Support execution of i-80 Gold’s long-term Sustainability Strategy, advancing priority focus areas while measuring and monitoring performance against defined goals and targets.
- Strengthen and further elevate i-80 Gold’s established Sustainability/ESG culture through ongoing organizational communications, education, and engagement.
- Provide technical and advisory support for alignment with Equator Principles 4 (EP4) requirements, including documentation, coordination, and reporting activities.
- Participate in occasional travel to conferences and i-80 Gold mine sites, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field including sustainability, environmental policy, business or environmental engineering
- 4-8 years of experience in one or more of the following areas - Corporate/Sustainability report development, Global Reporting Initiative, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, IFRS ISSB requirements, greenhouse gas verification and various top corporate reporting indices
- Practical experience supporting Equator Principles alignment, including contributing to environmental and social risk assessments, lender information requests, internal coordination with technical teams, and preparation of materials required for financing and ongoing compliance.
- Solid understanding of metrics and how Sustainability/ESG programs are measured and evaluated
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex data and analysis into clear, data-driven recommendations and solutions for senior management.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively through verbal, written, and presentation materials, including PowerPoint and Canva.
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to lead meetings across management levels and drive results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office suite and Excel required
- Working with key internal stakeholders to drive progress on KPI's
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Familiarity with the mining sector and mining industry standards
