The Town of Truckee is seeking a Director of Neighborhood Services and Sustainability to play a vital role in leading a number of the Town’s community-facing programs and services. Reporting to the Town Manager and serving as a key member of the Town’s executive leadership team, the Director of Neighborhood Services will serve as a Department Head with areas of oversight including housing, solid waste, sustainability, short-term rental management, and the Town’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA) program.
The Neighborhood Services and Sustainability Department is the Town’s newest department, responsible for leading several community-facing programs and services. The Department’s work is dynamic and fast-paced with opportunity for creativity and innovation in program and service delivery. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, emotionally intelligent, energetic, fun and creative strategic leader who understands public policy, municipal operations, and the unique challenges and opportunities of a maturing local government organization. They will bring a proven record of fostering strong relationships—both within the Town organization and with the broader community—and will excel at building trust through open, respectful, and transparent communication.
