Manager of Electrical Engineering

The Manager of Electrical Engineering is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing electrical engineering team that designs, validates, and supports electrical power distribution products—such as Remote Power Panels (RPPs), Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and related components—for mission-critical data center applications. This role combines technical leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative, reliable, and cost-effective electrical solutions that meet customer and industry standards.  If not local, must be able to travel to Richmond, VA office up to 25% of the time and there is some additional nationwide travel required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of electrical engineers and designers in developing new products and supporting existing lines.
• Manage workload assignments and prioritize engineering resources across multiple concurrent projects.
• Oversee the design and development of low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical power distribution equipment including RPPs, PDUs, circuit breaker panels, and monitoring systems.
• Ensure designs comply with UL, NEC, and other relevant electrical codes and standards.
• Review and approve electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and test documentation.
• Partner with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure design intent aligns with manufacturability, quality, and cost targets.
• Drive the execution of engineering deliverables from concept through production release using structured stage-gate processes.
• Serve as the primary technical authority on electrical system architecture and design validation.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management and Sales on customer requirements, specifications, and design proposals.
• Support manufacturing and field service teams with root-cause analysis and resolution of electrical issues.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 8 years of progressive electrical engineering experience in product design and development, preferably within the electrical manufacturing or data center power industry.
• 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience managing engineering teams.
• Experience working with medium-voltage electrical power distribution equipment including RPPs, PDUs, circuit breaker panels, and monitoring systems.
• Strong background in low-voltage AC/DC systems, power distribution, and circuit protection.
• Familiarity with UL 60950, UL 891, UL 67, or similar standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or equivalent CAD tools.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, monitoring systems, and communication protocols (Modbus, SNMP, etc.) is a plus.
• Ability to travel up to 25-30%.
