A Day in the Life
- Arrive at our Chicago facility and review work travelers and documentation for large, critical machined components bound for nuclear applications.
- Set up, verify, and calibrate analog precision instruments before every job—micrometers (including up to 60 inches), gauges, calipers, and inside/outside/depth micrometers.
- Perform thorough dimensional inspections on complex, oversized parts, capturing exact measurements and tolerances using manual methods.
- Log findings and nonconformances in the Epicor ERP system; compile detailed incoming, in-process, and final inspection reports.
- Coordinate with machinists, engineers, and leaders to prioritize work, resolve issues, and uphold rigorous nuclear documentation and traceability standards.
What You Bring
- 3 years of inspection experience in a custom precision machining or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated mastery of manual analog tools: micrometers (to 60”), gauges, calipers, and inside/outside/depth micrometers.
- Ability to calibrate measurement and test equipment used in inspection and testing.
- Comfort with Epicor ERP (or similar) for data entry and documentation; proficiency with the MS Office suite.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, clear communication, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading and an eagerness to learn nuclear industry documentation requirements.
- High School Diploma.
