We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled Water Transfer Technician/Pump Operator to join our team and support active oil and gas field operations. The ideal candidate has proven, hands-on proficiency in operating and troubleshooting diesel-powered centrifugal pumps and is adept at using digital monitoring and reporting tools. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, exceptional situational awareness, and the ability to work extended hours in challenging outdoor environments to ensure the continuous and safe movement of water.
Key Responsibilities
- Pump Operation & Monitoring: Safely operate, start, and shut down diesel-powered centrifugal pumps (up to 12-inch or larger).
- System Performance: Continuously monitor flow rates, pressures, and overall system performance to ensure maximum efficiency and adherence to safety protocols.
- Troubleshooting: Independently or as part of a team, diagnose and execute immediate repairs/troubleshooting on water transfer equipment and components (hoses, manifolds, pumps, etc.) in the field.
- Digital Proficiency: Utilize SCADA monitoring systems, digital reporting tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for real-time data logging, system oversight, and end-of-shift reporting.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a high level of situational awareness to identify and mitigate hazards, ensuring all operations comply with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Field Conditions: Adapt quickly to changing field conditions, weather, and operational needs.
- Physical Demands: Perform physical tasks including lifting, connecting, and handling heavy hoses and equipment in various weather conditions.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional expertise operating high-volume, diesel-powered centrifugal pumps in a demanding environment (oil and gas, construction, or mining preferred).
- Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude with a demonstrated ability to perform preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
- Computer Skills: Proficient with computer systems, including SCADA interfaces for pipeline and pump oversight, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Work Schedule: Full capability to work extended hours, including 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays, as required for 24/7 continuous operations.
- Certifications: Valid driver's license and a clean driving record required. Specific safety certifications (e.g., PEC SafeLand) are a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, reliable work ethic, and the ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively.
