Position Overview
This position involves assisting with the daily operation, maintenance, and monitoring of wastewater treatment facilities to ensure safe, efficient operations and compliance with applicable regulations.
Experienced operators will be responsible for performing operational duties based on their qualifications and certifications. Operator trainees will work alongside experienced personnel to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become certified wastewater operators.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities.
- Monitor treatment processes, equipment, and system performance.
- Collect samples, perform routine testing, and maintain accurate operational records.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on pumps, motors, and other treatment equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable environmental regulations.
- Complete required documentation and operational reports.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support facility operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous wastewater treatment experience preferred, but not required.
- NYS Wastewater Operator Certification preferred for experienced applicants.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills are a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to learn.
- Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with facility operations, including working outdoors and lifting equipment or materials as needed.
