Summary
The Accounting Specialist II may perform various duties within the department. The position compiles payroll data to process and maintain payroll records, monitors expenses and accounts while computing, classifying, recording, and verifying numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The duties in this position may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Processes payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, exemptions and insurance from time sheets and other records
- Compute wages and deductions and posts to payroll records.
- Prepares or reviews for accuracy, vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, computed wages, and other records.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts, report discrepancies and problems.
- Monitors accounts payable and receivable to ensure that payments are up to date.
- Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
- Records data concerning transfer of employees between departments.
- Keeps records such as status, travel, leave pay and nontaxable wages.

Education and/or Experience
Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience;
- Or two years of experience and an Associates degree;
- Or one year’s experience and a BS Degree in accounting from an accredited university.
- Experience in government contracting is preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality is a must.
- Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail required.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Deltek software; Database software; Payroll and Timesheet tracking software; Excel at the intermediate level, Outlook experience and Microsoft Office Word Processing

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
