Our client, a respected and growing commercial general contractor, is seeking an experienced BIM Manager to lead Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) initiatives across multiple vertical construction projects.
This is a strategic leadership opportunity for a construction technology professional who can establish BIM standards, drive model-based coordination, improve constructability, and support successful project delivery from preconstruction through closeout.
Position Overview
The BIM Manager will oversee the company's BIM strategy across multiple projects, developing scalable workflows while coordinating models between architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
This role will work closely with Preconstruction, Project Management, Superintendents, Estimating, and Operations to improve coordination, reduce field conflicts, and maximize project efficiency through technology-driven solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead BIM execution from preconstruction through project closeout.
- Develop and maintain company BIM standards, workflows, naming conventions, and model management procedures.
- Create and manage federated models while identifying clashes, constructability issues, sequencing conflicts, and prefabrication opportunities.
- Facilitate BIM coordination meetings with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
- Track coordination issues and ensure timely resolution throughout project development.
- Support estimating, operations, and field teams through quantity validation, logistics planning, sleeve and block-out coordination, and model-based problem solving.
- Collaborate with Superintendents and Project Managers to improve project coordination and reduce costly field rework.
- Promote BIM best practices and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Stay current on emerging BIM technologies and recommend process improvements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in BIM, VDC, or model-based coordination supporting commercial construction projects.
- Strong experience with vertical construction including multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality, commercial, healthcare, institutional, or high-rise developments.
- Advanced proficiency with:
- Autodesk Revit
- Navisworks Manage
- AutoCAD
- Bluebeam
- Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or BIM 360
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, constructability reviews, clash detection, and coordination workflows.
- Experience leading BIM coordination meetings with consultants, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and field teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and evaluate design solutions from a builder's perspective.
