Job Description
As an Engineering Support Assistant 2 for the Hunter Communications Engineering team, your work will be crucial in ensuring that our new fiber construction projects connect as many locations as possible. You’ll draw on a wide variety of data sources and tools to gather, cross-check, and verify serviceable addresses within project areas. This role also serves as a general support to the Engineering team, assisting the Director of Engineering with administrative tasks as needed. We’re looking for somebody
with a strong attention to detail, a high degree of skill in the use of spreadsheet software, and a commitment to working as part of a team.
This full-time position reports in person to a Hunter Communications office 5 days a week, working Monday to Friday, with travel to locations within our network footprint as needed.
Job Duties
Your duties as an Engineering Support Assistant will involve performing a variety of responsibilities and tasks, with the essential functions of your role including:
- Leading the Address Verification Process by utilizing various software tools and data sources such as federal, state, county, and municipal address databases and property records to evaluate addresses, determine installation or construction parameters, and accurately record data in serviceable address spreadsheets and databases.
- Making use of spreadsheet software including Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets to perform sophisticated data manipulation/analysis and construct advanced pivot tables and complex formulas.
- Supporting the Engineering team in day-to-day administrative tasks by filing purchase orders, coordinating vehicle maintenance, leading communication with public and private external stakeholders, and assisting with other tasks as assigned.
- Attending team meetings, taking notes, and preparing post-meeting action items, readouts, and coordinating follow-up on critical tasks.
- Supporting the Director of Engineering by gathering information, preparing reports, coordinating activities between departments, managing complex scheduling and calendar coordination for senior engineering staff, and other tasks as assigned.
- Overseeing departmental documentation, including updating technical manuals and SOPs.
- Leading small-scale projects or components of larger projects.
- Training new team members on administrative processes and systems.
- Conducting in-depth research to support specific engineering projects.

- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a high degree of professionalism, tact, and sensitivity to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently with a minimum of direct supervision.
- Proven working knowledge of and the ability to effectively operate and troubleshoot Windows-based computers and Android or iOS based mobile devices, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Earth and other Google Suite tools.
- A valid driver’s license and the proven ability to safely operate a company-owned and/or personal motor vehicle in accordance with Hunter Communications policy, local, state, and federal laws. Drivers of company vehicles are subject to a pre-employment drug screen, MVR check, and random testing.
