The Research & Methods Lead owns the scientific basis of the Battery Index. You will design and standardize the methodology that determines how recyclers are assessed and classified. Key responsibilities include:
- Air and soil sampling methodology: Refine sampling protocols to balance data reliability with feasible field application.
- Blood lead level sampling: Define the approach to worker and community blood lead sampling including ethical review.
- Assessment analysis and classification: Build a rigorous process for evaluating sample data and converting it into recycler classifications.
- Field execution and training: Manage in-country execution and train enumerators and field consultants.
- Data systems and documentation: Maintain clean datasets and documented protocols.
- Graduate degree in environmental engineering, science, chemistry, epidemiology, or public health.
- 5 years of post-graduate experience.
- Deep understanding of environmental research and exposure assessment.
- Quantitative analysis skills using tools like R, Python, or Stata.
- Track record of executing research in low-resource environments.
