Description of Position:
Serves as a Project SUCCESS Coordinator in the Watertown Middle School and implements the program as specified. Will work with students individually and in small groups; will provide screenings of students; conduct classroom presentations; work with school wide awareness projects; consult on prevention issues with school staff and refer and follow up with students and families needing additional services. The Project SUCCESS Coordinator should be able to work effectively with others in a team relationship and should be able to relate to staff of the school and the Human Service Agency.

Job Knowledge and Comprehension:
- Plan and coordinate school-wide environmental and universal prevention activities by working with youth leadership groups such as SADD and/or Peer Helpers.
- Teaching prevention curriculum and/or providing presentations in classroom setting incorporating refusal, problem solving, and social skills.
- Provide screenings of students. Referrals made by variety of sources such as: staff, school violations, Diversion/juvenile court, friends, family members.
- Facilitates individual and group sessions.
- Facilitates parent meetings, and/or parent groups.
- Coordinate with faculty of the school on how to identify, assess, motivate, and refer students.
- Coordinate referrals to mental health and substance use resources, services and programs as well as connect with other community resources.
- Attend school and community meetings and work with key community sectors to support the student and the family such as Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) team; District Crisis team.
- Performs other duties as assigned consistent with exempt functions
Terms of Employment and Hours of Duty:
12-month position, full time. August – May, housed at the Watertown middle school. Summer months will consist of (but not limited to) preparing for school year, contacts with students, facilitating youth groups, screenings, and assisting the NE Prevention Resource Center. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to implement the programs intervention strategies.
Physical Requirements:
Required to sit for long periods of time. Infrequent light physical effort required lifting up to 10 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. rarely. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. Employee may be required to work extended periods of time at a computer monitor. Must be able to drive vehicle frequently.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred credential or credential eligible. Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health Education, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Drug & Alcohol Studies, or related area. Minimum of two years working with adolescents. Prefer experience in working within a school setting; and knowledge/experience with alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention and/or counseling. Strong people and positive interpersonal relationship skills.
