Description of Position:
Perform non-medical client services including cashiering, scheduling, and triage, with the ability to identify clients in urgent need of addiction or mental health support. Carry out clerical and reception duties while delivering strong customer service through clear, professional communication—welcoming clients and visitors and providing accurate information and direction. Collaborate with the Office Coordinator and/or Executive Director to identify issues and support timely resolution.
Position Details:
Full-time, 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with occasional 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM coverage.
Pay range: $17.00 – $18.00 per hour.

Job Knowledge and Comprehension:

Triage and identify clients in urgent need of addiction and mental health services, ensuring timely coordination with Behavioral Health staff.

Perform cashiering and clerical duties with minimal supervision, maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Schedule, confirm, and coordinate appointments; manage calendars; prepare and distribute appointment notices; and collect applicable fees.

Safeguard client information by regulating access, use, and disclosure in compliance with HIPAA and EPHI standards.

Maintain proficiency in evolving technology, including software systems and office equipment.

Effectively de-escalate challenging situations and resolve concerns or escalate to appropriate personnel when necessary.

Demonstrate the ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.

Utilize computer applications proficiently and adapt quickly to new systems and tools.

Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with non-exempt responsibilities.
Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.

Occasional light physical activity, including lifting up to 10 lbs. and rarely up to 25 lbs.

Frequent use of hands and arms for reaching and operating office equipment.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle on an occasional basis.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate with a diverse group of clientele.
Ability to type 45 –50 words per minute.
Working knowledge of computer applications and electronic files.
Possesses a valid South Dakota driver’s license and has a safe driving record.
The Board of Directors of the Human Service Agency shall have the prerogative to hire staff whose qualifications may vary from the above.
