Description of Position:
The C.A.R.E. Program provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support services for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. The multi-disciplinary staff on the C.A.R.E. team work together to provide services which enable individuals with severe and persistent mental illness to live and participate successfully in their communities. The Residential Specialist provides direct residential services to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
Position Details:
Full Time: 32 Hours per Week
Shift: Evenings/Weekends
Pay Range: $17 - $18

Job Knowledge and Comprehension:
- Provides specialized treatment, assistance, education, rehabilitation, and support services as part of a comprehensive team to C.A.R.E. team/Transitional Residence clients.
- Participates as part of a comprehensive team in the treatment planning process and monitors client progress in meeting the goals and objective of the treatment plan.
- Assists C.A.R.E. team/Transitional Residence clients in improving their social and residential adjustment and in developing and strengthening of daily living skills.
- Provides transportation for C.A.R.E. team/Transitional Residence clients.
- Provides social and recreational programming for C.A.R.E. team/Transitional Residence clients.
- Assists and supervises C.A.R.E. team/Transitional Residence clients completing daily household chores, meal preparation, and other tasks.
- Provides appropriate medication education and administration in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Maintains records of medication and other unusual incidents in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Other duties as assigned consistent with non-exempt functions.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting requirements may exceed 50 lbs. during medical emergency situations and/or behavior support. Other physical activities include transferring people we support from and to wheelchairs, beds, toilets. Making beds, push wheelchairs, carrying groceries, vacuuming, housekeeping, sweeping, and laundry are other required job duties. Job requires bending, stooping, climbing stairs, pushing/pulling, and driving a vehicle.
Qualifications:
Associates degree in Social Services or Human Services preferred.
Possession of a valid South Dakota Driver’s License.
The Board of Directors of the Human Service Agency shall have the prerogative to hire staff whose qualifications may vary from the above.
