Summary
Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Finance Director leads the organization’s financial strategy, planning, and compliance. The Senior Finance Director oversees budgeting, financial reporting, and the development of accounting frameworks to ensure timely, accurate financials in compliance with nonprofit and funder standards. The Senior Finance Director manages general ledger operations, monthly and year-end closings, grant financials, accounts payable, funder reporting, and audits.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direction for department development, implementation, and evaluation that aligns with organizational priorities, mission, and vision.
- Develop, manage, and direct budgets and resources for organizational sustainability and growth.
- Provide strategic leadership in financial planning, accounting operations, and regulatory compliance.
- Execute long-term financial strategies to ensure sustainability and growth.
- Drive cost efficiency and operational improvements through expense analysis and performance monitoring.
- Oversee procurement processes and implement cost-saving strategies.
- In partnership with the CEO and the Finance Committee, oversee investment strategy and portfolio performance within risk parameters.
- Ensure full compliance with all contractual, grant, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management to foster a high-performing, collaborative, and inclusive team culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, a related field, or commensurate work experience.
- Master’s degree or CPA/CFA designation preferred.
- Five (5) years of accounting experience. Program financial management experience a plus.
- Three (3) years of leadership experience.
- Experience with non-profit preferred.
- Knowledge and experience implementing GAAP and strong internal controls; knowledge of non-profit government funded accounting and Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.
