Electrical Senior Designer
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Location: Greenville, SC
Position Overview
Staff designer performing electrical design assignments of intermediate complexity using 3D modeling and 2D CADD tools. Works under supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Design Supervisor on industrial EPC projects. Requires 10 years of design experience.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in a related technical field with minimum 10 years of work-related experience
- Working knowledge of applicable federal (including DOE orders), state, and local codes and standards
- Ability to communicate effectively with project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
- Knowledge of discipline codes and standards
- Experience providing EPC services on industrial projects
- Proficiency executing engineering projects using 3D modeling and 2D CADD tools in a multi-discipline environment
- Background in drafting/design in electrical, instrumentation & control, or communications engineering fields
- Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation CAD with demonstrated ability to originate and produce drawings with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in 3D modeling using Intergraph Smart3D (S3D)
- Ability to walk down field systems, interpret field direction, create/modify drawings, and direct junior drafters
- Perform advanced design calculations (lighting, raceway sizing, wire sizing)
- Perform intermediate design calculations (voltage drop, cable pulling, panel board/breaker sizing, junction box sizing)
- Perform electrical material take-off and field assistance
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials
- Experience with design of nuclear facility systems under ASME NQA-1 requirements
- Practical field experience
- EPC experience in DOE/Federal Government, nuclear facilities under QA program, or manufacturing/pharmaceutical/biotech
- Advanced knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD systems and procedures
- Advanced knowledge of Intergraph SmartPlant Electrical and SmartPlant Review software
- Advanced knowledge of electrical design requirements (grounding/earthing, lighting, wiring, motors, conduit fill/sizing, panelboards, hazardous locations)
