Short Summary about Job:
HukariAscendent is seeking a highly experienced Work Control Planner (Level 4) to join the Infrastructure and Planning Office (IPO) supporting Detonator Production at Los Alamos National Laboratory. This role is focused on the reliability and maintenance team within a 4-part IPO structure. The ideal candidate will hit the ground running with deep technical writing expertise and hands-on planning experience in a complex, safety-critical manufacturing or research environment. This is not a field/maintenance-only role, the candidate must demonstrate strong experience developing integrated work documents (IWDs) and written procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree 12 years of directly related experience; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
- Demonstrated technical writing expertise: development of step-by-step work instructions, IWDs (Integrated Work Documents), and written procedures â NOT just field or package execution experience
- Experience developing preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) work packages for unique and complex equipment
- Proficiency with CMMS platforms: Asset Suite (current system) and/or SAP (system being migrated to); Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience identifying critical and spare parts for programmatic equipment
- Working knowledge of the ISM (Integrated Safety Management) process for IWD development
- Background in one or more of the following safety disciplines: chemical hazard awareness, pressure systems safety, electrical safety, radiation/radiological protection
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, facilitate discussions, and communicate effectively with engineers, technicians, vendors, and manufacturers
- U.S. Citizenship required; must be eligible to obtain a DOE Q Clearance (federal background investigation required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience at a DOE National Laboratory or in a high-explosive (HE) operations environment
- Existing DOE Q Clearance
- Experience with MicroStrategy or similar data/reporting tools
- Familiarity with establishing work document templates (IWD template development)
- Hands-on planning experience with one or more of the following equipment types: diffusion bonders, PVD (physical vapor deposition) systems, large furnaces (vacuum/industrial), hydraulic/transfer presses (30-ton, 200-ton), fume hoods, argon/inert gas trailer systems, 3D printers, scanning electron microscopes (SEM), FTIR microscopes, OGP Smartscopes, Epilog laser engravers, Wickert presses, or Demister/mist collection systems
- Experience in a precision manufacturing, advanced materials, energetics, aerospace, or defense R&D environment
- Experience training or mentoring junior team members
- Vendor coordination experience (communicating with manufacturers; supporting on-site vendor oversight visits)
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
- Background in lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), energy isolation, and de-energization procedures for complex systems
Miscellaneous/Additional Information:
- Scope: Program/manufacturing side of operations only candidate does not touch facilities-side maintenance; work is focused on equipment inside the manufacturing facility.
- Level 4 position - candidate must be able to hit the ground running with minimal ramp-up time.
- Role involves establishing programmatic equipment maintenance templates (off-the-shelf products) and developing IWD work documents following the ISM process.
- Key duties include: developing programmatic and corrective actions, conducting programmatic equipment maintenance, identifying critical/spare parts, ensuring IWD packages meet high-explosive (HE) safety requirements, and training a junior team member.
- Candidate must be comfortable communicating directly with equipment vendors and manufacturers; vendors may come on-site to provide oversight.
