Short Summary about Job:
We are seeking a senior-level Project Controls Engineer (PCE4) to support Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and Project Controls functions at a premier DOE national laboratory facility in Los Alamos, NM. This is a 1-year on-site contract position (2 openings) with an immediate start. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in cost engineering, planning and scheduling, and EVMS tools and processes, providing technical direction and innovative solutions on complex, high-impact projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field and a minimum of 12 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Expert-level knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tools, processes, and implementation
- Demonstrated experience in cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting systems, and cost analysis in both field and home office environments
- Proven experience in schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and analysis
- Experience supervising and providing technical direction for cost engineering and/or planning/scheduling activities
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and multiple discipline-specific project controls software
- Knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes, including understanding of controller instructions impacting project controls
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience identifying trends and providing solutions for management attention on complex, non-routine projects
- Ability to work independently and exercise wide latitude in determining course of action to accomplish project objectives
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience serving as a Control Account Manager (CAM) with subject matter expertise in project budgets, cost estimating, scheduling, and corrective action implementation
- Post-graduate coursework in engineering, project management, or a related discipline
- Experience on DOE or government contractor projects
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver detailed and accurate status reports to project management
- Broad expertise in developing advanced project controls concepts, techniques, and standards
