What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced ONLY Commercial Cleaner 2 visits per Month Lake Charles position at HTE Holdings LLC?
A porter (cleaning) position at a PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) center is a janitorial and housekeeping role focused on keeping the facility clean, safe, and welcoming for older adults who receive medical care and social services. Because PACE participants are elderly and may have mobility or health challenges, cleanliness and safety are especially important.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Cleaning and disinfecting common areas, exam rooms, dining areas, restrooms, hallways, and offices.
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting throughout the day.
- Emptying trash and recycling containers.
- Restocking supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer.
- Cleaning up spills immediately and placing safety signs to prevent slips and falls.
- Sanitizing high-touch surfaces like door handles, handrails, tables, and chairs.
- Helping move furniture or set up rooms for activities or meetings.
- Reporting maintenance or safety issues, such as broken equipment, leaks, or burned-out lights, to the facilities department.
- Following infection-control procedures and using cleaning chemicals safely.
Skills employers look for
- Attention to detail.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift (often up to 30–40 pounds).
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals, or willingness to learn.
- Good customer service and communication, since you'll interact with elderly participants, visitors, nurses, therapists, and other staff.
What a typical day looks like
You might begin by cleaning restrooms and common areas before participants arrive. Throughout the day, you'll keep the building tidy by disinfecting frequently touched surfaces, removing trash, responding to spills, restocking supplies, and making sure walkways stay clean and safe. At the end of the shift, you may perform deeper cleaning tasks and prepare the facility for the next day.
This role is important because a clean, organized environment helps reduce the spread of illness, lowers the risk of falls, and creates a comfortable setting for older adults receiving care. It is often an entry-level position with opportunities to move into environmental services, facilities maintenance, or supervisory roles.
