Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and mechanical systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately.
- Perform electrical diagnostics utilizing tools such as ohmmeters and troubleshoot electrical systems within HVAC/R equipment.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical components to ensure optimal system performance.
- Repair or replace components such as compressors, fans, valves, motors, and control systems using hand tools or welding techniques.
- Assist with the installation of HVAC system upgrades or new equipment following HVAC design specifications.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly about system issues and solutions while maintaining professionalism on-site.
- Ensure compliance with EPA regulations for refrigerant handling and other environmental standards.
- Operate building automation systems to optimize energy efficiency and system control.
- Maintain detailed records of service activities, repairs performed, parts used, and system diagnostics for future reference.
Experience
- Proven construction experience with mechanical systems repair and property maintenance is highly desirable.
- Service technician experience working with HVAC systems in commercial or residential settings.
- Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, HVAC design principles, and refrigeration technology.
- Hands-on experience with electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters; troubleshooting electrical issues within HVAC/R systems.
- Mechanical knowledge related to plumbing, welding, boiler operation, ammonia refrigeration (preferred), and appliance repair.
- Experience installing or maintaining HVAC system components including ductwork, air conditioning units, boilers, or building automation controls.
- Strong customer service skills combined with field service experience in diverse environments.
- Valid driver’s license (including
driver if applicable) with a clean driving record for safe transportation between job sites.
