What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fund Accountant position at Hoxton Circle?
The Opportunity
A private investment firm managing closed-ended fund structures is hiring a Fund Accounting Associate. This is a chance to own the fund accounting cycle end-to-end, working closely with valuations, the fund administrator, and external auditors rather than sitting three layers removed from the action.
This role is based in New York City, four days per week in office.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own quarterly close accounting for fund entities, including journal entries, cash reconciliations, capital account allocations, and fee calculations.
- Manage the third-party fund administrator relationship, advising the administrator on purchase and sale accounting treatment and reviewing quarter-end investor statements and financials.
- Drive year-end audits with external auditors and prepare annual and quarterly financial statements.
- Manage capital calls and distributions for assigned funds.
- Support regulatory filings, tax reporting, and ad hoc projects across the business.
Who You Are
- 3-4 years of accounting experience in public or private accounting covering private equity or hedge fund clients.
- CPA required, with a Bachelor's in Finance or Accounting.
- Hands-on experience coordinating year-end audits and working with third-party fund administrators.
- Working knowledge of waterfall calculations, capital calls, and distributions. Exposure to credit, asset-backed securities, or securitizations a plus.
- Strong Excel skills, sharp attention to detail, and the ownership mentality to run processes without hand-holding.
